Paradiddle

A sticking pattern played right-left-right-right, then reversed.

In plain English

A single paradiddle combines alternating strokes with a double stroke: R L R R, L R L L. It can be moved around a drum kit or used on one surface.

Try or listen for this

Say “right, left, right, right; left, right, left, left” while playing slowly and evenly.

Why it matters

Paradiddles develop coordination and make it easier to move accents or lead with either hand.
