Practice

Interleaving

Alternating between related skills or problems during practice.

In plain English

Instead of repeating one task for the entire session, interleaving mixes several tasks in shorter rounds. Each return requires you to recall and rebuild the skill.

Try or listen for this

Spend five minutes on a groove, five on a transition, five on ear training, then return to the groove.

Why it matters

Interleaving can make practice feel harder in the moment while strengthening flexible recall and revealing what you can genuinely reproduce.
